Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oana Toiu, will be paying a visit to Turkey on Friday, in the context of which she is scheduled to meet her counterpart, Hakan Fidan, in Ankara.
Among the important projects that Romania has with Turkey is the one regarding the combat of naval mines in the Black Sea (Mine Countermeasures Black Sea Task Group - MCM BS TG), agerpres reports.
Romania took over the command of the MCM Naval Task Group in July.
It is made up of military ships specialized in the fight against naval mines from Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey. The command was taken over by the Romanian Naval Forces from the Bulgarian partners, for the next six months, in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of the MCM Black Sea, signed in January 2024, in Istanbul.
