Romanian Language Day will be celebrated on September 2 in the city of Bucharest, in an unconventional event which will bring the beauty of the Romanian language to the fore in what is considered to be the largest collective urban exercise so far.
According to a release sent to AGERPRES, the event is included in the program of the outdoor project "Open Streets - Bucharest, Urban Promenade" and is organized by the City Hall of the Capital, through the Directorate of Culture, Tourism, Education of the Municipality of Bucharest, together with ARCUB - the Cultural Center of the Municipality of Bucharest, the Metropolitan Library of the Capital and the National Museum of Romanian Literature, agerpres reports.
"The event on September 2 aims to bring to the fore the beauty of the Romanian language by means of one of the most well-known and practiced educational activities - dictation. On the occasion of the Romanian Language Day, the school desks move to the Kiseleff Circle area to be occupied, in as large a number as possible, by all those who love the Romanian language, interested in taking part in the most extensive and unique dictation exercise, in which the 'professor of the Romanian language and literature' is a beloved contemporary Romanian author," it is shown in the cited release.
The participants who will take the seats in the benches located on Kiseleff Road in the center of the Capital will have the opportunity to write on paper literary texts recited by writer Doina Rusti.
Awarded the Prose Prize of the Romanian Writers' Union and the "Ion Creanga" Prize of the Romanian Academy, an author with over 40 titles translated into over 15 languages, Doina Rusti will read a literary text written especially for this event.
The "Romanian Language Day" event was designed as a way to raise awareness and promote the Romanian language through an urban collective exercise and thus proposes "a journey into the universe of words, where the participants will have the opportunity not only to test their language skills, but also to be rewarded with the text dictated and signed by author Doina Rusti".
Public of all ages is invited to participate for free in the "Romanian Language Day" event on Saturday, September 2, from 6:00 p.m., at Rondul Kiseleff, and interested persons can register by filling out the form at https://forms.gle/3adENQgSyndHMa169, also available on the websites: www.arcub.ro, www.bibmet.ro and www.mnlr.ro.
Romanian Language Day is celebrated nationwide on August 31, starting from 2013, when the law establishing this holiday was promulgated.
