A Romanian officer was awarded a U.S. Army medal in recognition of his outstanding participation in the Saber Guardian 2017 exercise, the Ministry of National Defence announced.

The medal presentation ceremony took place at the headquarters of the command of the 4th Infantry Division 'Gemina'. Lieutenant Victor Bogdan Bila was presented with the Army Achievement medal by Colonel Glenn Schmick, commander of the 18th Military Police Brigade, in recognition of his involvement and support to the U.S. troops during the Saber Guardian 2017 exercise, the Ministry of National Defence said on its Facebook page.

Colonel Glenn Schmick said that the young Romanian lieutenant is a role model and that when they hear about Romania the American servicemen who took part in that exercise instantly think of their brother in arms Victor Bogdan Bila, the Ministry of National Defence said. The young honor recipient serves in the 400th Logistic Support Battalion 'Feleacu', which provides support to 4th Infantry Division 'Gemina', and said on the occasion of the ceremony that his comrades are his family.
