The Romanian Post National Corporation (CNPR) on Saturday announced having received the first postal votes cast by Romanian citizens abroad in the 2024 presidential and general elections.

"This action is part of the company's commitment to supporting the exercise of the right to vote by mail for Romanians abroad under contracts concluded with the Standing Electoral Authority (AEP) and in accordance with the legislation in force. For the 2024 presidential election, the Romanian Post sent over 6,000 postal items, covering both rounds of voting. Also, for the general election (Senate and Chamber of Deputies), about 6,000 envelopes with the documents necessary for voting by mail were sent," according to the Post Service.

Currently, 184 envelopes with the ballots received from abroad have been registered, which came from the following countries: Hungary, Greece, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, France, Sweden, Austria and Switzerland.

"The Romanian Post is committed to ensuring an efficient and transparent electoral process for all Romanian citizens who have chosen to cast their vote by mail. This is an absolute priority for the company, and the measures taken reflect our determination to secure citizens' access to democratic voting, while ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of each vote."
