The Romanian Royal Family expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Steluta Lucia Rodica Coposu, sister of the late PNTCD leader Corneliu Coposu, commending the efforts she and her sister Flavia undertook to preserve and promote their brother's spiritual, political, and moral legacy.
"The Royal Family received with deep sadness the news of the passing of Mrs. Steluta Lucia Rodica Coposu, sister of statesman Corneliu Coposu. In 1995, Queen Anne and the Custodian of the Crown stood beside Rodica and Flavia Coposu at the funeral of their brother. Together with her sister Flavia, Rodica Coposu established the Corneliu Coposu Foundation in 1996, which carries forward the principles and values that the great political leader upheld throughout his life," the Royal Family said in a Facebook post on Friday.
The Royal Family emphasized its longstanding bond with the Coposu sisters and admired their determination to preserve and promote their brother's remarkable legacy within Romanian society.
A firm supporter of the principles and values of the Romanian Crown, Rodica Coposu was awarded the Cross of the Royal House of Romania by King Michael I in 2009, alongside her sister Flavia.
In 2014, the Royal Family joined Rodica and Flavia Coposu at Elisabeta Palace to mark the centenary of Corneliu Coposu's birth, in a ceremony paying tribute to the family's unwavering loyalty to the Crown and their outstanding contribution to Romania's democratic development.
Steluta Lucia Rodica Coposu, the youngest sister of Corneliu Coposu and president of the foundation bearing his name, passed away on Thursday morning.
The announcement was made by Ion-Andrei Gherasim, Executive President of the Corneliu Coposu Foundation, in a public message.
