Romanian Minister of Education and Research Daniel David and Ukraine's First Deputy Minister of Education and Science Yevhen Kudriavets agreed on the establishment of a working group made up of representatives of the two ministries, of the regional authorities of Ukraine and of the Foreign Affairs Ministries of the two states, a group tasked with developing proposals aimed at ensuring the rights of the members of the Romanian minority to mother tongue education "in accordance with the international commitments undertaken" by Ukraine.

Daniel David and Yevhen Kudriavets had on Wednesday a videocall regarding the implementation of educational reform measures in Ukraine at highschool level, with an impact on the Romanian language curriculum.

According to a release, the results of the group's activity will be discussed at ministerial level as soon as possible.

"As I have said on various other occasions, a Romanian Minister of Education and Research must respond in person and get engaged every time the Romanian communities abroad request his support in promoting the national language and culture or in any issue concerning the education and research system," declared Daniel David, as cited in the release.

Daniel David also met on Tuesday in Chisinau with his Moldovan counterpart Dan Perciun, with the two officials examining the ongoing joint projects and the launch of a new initiative through which Romanian teachers would support Romanian language learning programs for various communities in the Republic of Moldova; this project will also be discussed at the next meeting of the prime ministers of the two countries.
