Romanians can invest starting Monday, May 12, in Treasury government bonds, with maturities of 1, 3 and 5 years and annual interest rates of 6.75%, 7.40%, and 7.80%, respectively, the Ministry of Finance informs in a press release sent to AGERPRES.
This edition of the Treasury Program is the fifth one this year, with the amounts invested so far exceeding 13 billion RON.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the subscription period in the current edition of the program lasts until Friday, June 6 this year, and the government bonds have a nominal value of 1 RON and are in dematerialized form.
Thus, government securities can be purchased between May 12 - June 4, 2025, through the Ghiseul.ro platform, between May 12 - June 5, 2025 online, only by individuals who are registered in the SPV for securities launched through the State Treasury units.
"The operations that can be performed online are: opening a subscription account in the investor's name at a selected State Treasury unit, subscription of Treasury government securities, transfer of amounts from the investor's subscription account to a bank account. Also, the securities can be purchased between May 12 - June 6, 2025 at the headquarters of the State Treasury units, and between May 12 - June 5, 2025 in urban areas and May 12 - June 4, 2025 in rural areas, through post offices.
The funds obtained by the Ministry of Finance as issuer, as a result of the issuance of government bonds, will be used to finance the budget deficit and refinance the public debt.
In the first issues concluded this year, Romanians have already invested 13.44 billion RON, through 313,476 subscription orders.
Starting with March this year, the Ministry of Finance launched the first issue in which Romanian citizens who have an account on the Ghiseul.ro platform and hold a debit card had the opportunity to purchase government bonds online, just one click away. Thus, over 1 billion RON was invested by Romanians from the country and the diaspora, through the Ghiseul.ro platform.
