This June, Romanians invested on average RON 868 for the installation of an air conditioner, up 5.72% compared to the same period in 2024, shows a survey by HomeRun, a digital platform dedicated to connecting consumers with reviewed service providers.
Data centralized by HomeRun reveals that, with the onset of the heat wave at the beginning of summer, demand for air conditioning services was 170% higher in June compared to May, respectively 111% higher than in July and 473% above the estimated demand for August, agerpres reports.
Thus, consumers requested both installation and cleaning services, and unlike installation activities, which saw a slight increase in cost, the price for cleaning remained stable from one year to another, averaging RON 302. The areas with the highest demand for air conditioner cleaning services were Bucharest with over 54% of requests, followed by Ilfov (over 12%), Cluj County (7%), Timis County (over 6%) and Constanta County (over 6%).
Bucharest also topped the list by demand for the installation of new appliances (with 33.6% of the total), followed by Ilfov (about 14%), Timis County (over 10%), and Cluj (over 10%).
Orders from mountainous areas were quite hefty too, with Brasov County reporting just over 8% of the total requests.
Demand for AC installing was also significant outside big cities, with over 30% of the requests coming from rural areas or smaller towns. For example, in Bucharest and Ilfov, 73% of the installation queries came from Bucharest, and the rest were from Ilfov County.
In Constanta County, 57% of the queries were from the county seat, and 43% from other localities, in Cluj, 65% of the queries were in the county seat, while the remaining 35% came from outside the city, and in Timis County the ratio was 61% to 39%.
