Romania ranks second worldwide in the ranking of countries with the most pizza orders in 2025, just behind Spain, and first in South-Eastern Europe, reveals an analysis of the Glovo delivery platform on International Pizza Day.
Data show that February 14, 2025 (Valentine's Day) was the busiest day of the year for pizza orders, with more than 18,000 servings ordered nationwide. Also then, the "golden minute" of the year was recorded, at 18:32, when the volume of orders reached a significant peak.
In terms of tastes, Romanians remain faithful to the classic assortments, with the top of the most ordered types of pizza in 2025 being led by Pizza Diavola, followed by Pizza Quattro Stagioni, Pizza Margherita, Pizza Capricciosa and Pizza Quattro Formaggi.
The title of "biggest pizza fan" goes to a user from Cluj-Napoca, who ordered 396 pizzas over the past year. Also, the year 2025 brought another record, with the most expensive pizza order placed by a consumer in Arad, worth over 2,800 lei.
The highest demand for pizza was recorded in May 2025, and Friday, Saturday and Sunday are the days with the highest volume of orders, with the weekend concentrating most of the pizza consumption. Friday remains the preferred day for pizza orders, closely followed by Saturday and Sunday.
Most Romanians prefer to eat pizza for dinner, with 19:00 o'clock being the peak time for pizza orders.
According to the same analysis, most pizza orders are delivered in Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca, Constanta, Oradea and Iasi, cities that are constantly at the top of Glovo users' preferences. Also, 93% of orders containing pizza come from restaurants, while 7% are placed in the supermarket category.
