Romanian tennis player Yannick Theodor Alexandrescu on Wednesday advanced to the quarterfinals of the boys' singles event at French Open, the second Grand Slam tournament of the year, after defeating Austrian Thilo Behrmann 6-0 6-1 in 55 minutes.
In the quarterfinals, Alexandrescu, seeded number seven, will play German Niels McDonald.
On the other hand, compatriot Stefan Horia Haita failed to advance to the quarterfinals, being defeated by German Max Schoenhaus 2-6 6-1 6-1 in an hour and 26 minutes.
In girls' doubles, Maia Burcescu and Serbian Luna Vujovic made it to the quarterfinals after 6-4 6-2 against Mariella Thamm (Germany)/Neus Torner Sensano (Spain) in 69 minutes.
The next opponents of the Burcescu/Vujovic pair will be third-seeded Czech twins Alena and Jana Kovackova, who in the round of 16 defeated Romanian-Russian duo Diana-Ioana Simionescu/Rada Zolotareva 5-7 7-6 (7/3) 10-8 in an hour and 37 minutes.
