Romanian tennis player Stefania Bojica on Sunday won the first ITF singles title of her career at the W15 Kursumlijska Banja tournament in Serbia, prize money USD 15,000, as her opponent, Argentina's Maria Florencia Urrutia, was a no show in the final.
In the semifinals, sixth seed Bojica, 20, world number 573, had beaten another Romanian, Maria Sara Popa, 6-2 5-7 7-5.
In the first round, Bojica defeated Serbian Mirjana Jovanovic, 7-5 7-6 (7/5), in the round of 16 she prevailed over Bulgarian Iva Ivanova, 6-1 7-6 (7/5), and in the quarterfinals she beat Russian Anastasia Zolotareva, 6-3 3-6 6-4.
Bojica has so far won no less than 11 ITF doubles titles.
