Romanian tennis player Miriam Bulgaru on Monday advanced to the women's singles round of 16 of the Nordea Open WTA 125 tournament in Bastad, Sweden, prize pool USD 115,000, after defeating Chloe Paquet.
Bulgaru, 25, world number 218 prevailed in about two hours over a more experienced opponent, a 30-year-old world number 115 player.
For her performance so far, Bulgaru won USD $2,400 and 15 WTA singles points.
In the round of 16, the she will face the winner between Italian Martina Trevisan and Australian Astra Sharma.
On the singles main draw there are two Romanians, Jaqueline Cristian (second seed), who will face Sweden's Nellie Taraba Wallberg in the first round, and Irina Bara, who will meet Thailand's Mananchaya Sawangkaew
