Romanian tennis player Carmen Andreea Herea qualified on Friday for the semifinals of the WTA 125 tournament in Austin, Texas, with total prize worth of 115,000 USD, after defeating US Malaika Rapolu 6-1, 6-3, Agerpres reports.
Herea (aged 19, WTA's 775th) entered the main draw with a wild card and achieved the best result of her career after an event lasting just 63 minutes.
A student at the University of Texas, Herea faced off Rapolu (aged 22, WTA's 461st) for the first time.
Andreea Herea secured a cheque worth 5,800 USD and 49 WTA points.
In the semifinals, Herea will meet Mexican player Renata Zarazua (aged 28, WTA's 82nd), the tournament's third seed.
