Romanian tennis player Sorana Cîrstea will meet today American McCartney Kessler in the women's singles quarterfinals of the ATX Open WTA 250 tournament in Austin, Texas, the US, total commitment USD 275,094, after the fifth seed defeated in three sets Romania's Cristina Bucsa, 5-7 6-3 7-6 (7/4).
It took Kessler, 25, world number 56, two and a half hours to prevail over the player born in Moldova but representing Spain.
Cirstea, 34, world number 120, beat Russian Diana Shnaider, second seed, in the round of 16 - 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 - and she has never met Kessler before.
