Romania's National Communications Administration and Regulation Authority (ANCOM) and Georgia's National Communications Commission (ComCom) signed on Monday a bilateral cooperation memorandum in the field of electronic communications regulation and management of the radio frequency spectrum, ANCOM said in a release.
The document was signed by ANCOM President Valeriu Stefan Zgonea and ComCom Commissioner Ekaterine Imedadze, on the occasion of the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC-25) organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), agerpres reports.
ITU is the oldest of the United Nations' specialized agencies, being unanimously recognized as the most important global center of expertise in the field of information and communications technology.
The Romanian delegation to the ITU World Conference on Telecommunication Development also includes Romanian ambassador to Azerbaijan Vasile Soare, as well as Senators Catalin Silegeanu and Grigore-Adrian Peiu, who both represent the Committee on Communications, Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence.
ANCOM and ComCom will cooperate on the regulatory aspects of electronic communications identified as being of joint interest, and in particular in areas such as the management and monitoring of the radio frequency spectrum, regulatory policies in the field of satellite communications, including the monitoring of satellite frequencies, the development of broadband infrastructure and projects involving submarine cables.
ANCOM promotes the interests of users of electronic communications services, postal services and digital services in the context of the transition to the Gigabit society, by making optimal use of the mix of management and regulatory instruments at the Authority's disposal.
