Romania's Cristian advances to Transylvania Open women's doubles semis

Romanian -Italian duo Jaqueline Cristian - Angelica Moratelli on Friday evening progressed to the semifinals of the women's doubles event of the Transylvania Open WTA 250 tournament, total commitments USD 275,094, hosted by BTarena in Cluj-Napoca, after defeating Romanians Irina Begu/Sorana Cîrstea 7-5 6-4.

Cristian and her partner won in an hour and 36 minutes.

For their performance so far, they won USD 4,260 and 98 WTA doubles points.

In the semifinals, the Romanian-Italian double will play Katarzyna Piter (Poland)/Aleksandra Sasnovich (Belarus).

Sasnovich also advanced to the women's singles semifinals after beating Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina, the fourth seed, 2-6 6-4 7-6 (7/3) on Friday.

Lucky loser Sasnovich will play the winner between top seed Anastasia Potapova of Russia and German Ella Seidel.
