Romania's National Directorate of Cyber Security does not confirm the existence of a cross-border cyber-attack or a cyber-incident behind Monday's power outages in Spain and Portugal.
"In connection with the information carried by the media regarding power outages in several member states of the European Union, the National Directorate of Cyber Security does not confirm the existence of a cross-border cyber-attack or cyber-incident. It was not considered necessary to escalate the alert level for the two cyber mechanisms of the European Union: the CSIRT Network and EU-CyCLONe," DNSC said on Monday.
Also, no significant cyber incidents have been reported so far by important or essential energy operators in Romania.
On Monday, Spain and Portugal faced major difficulties following power outages that left hospitals without electricity, paralysed public transport, caused massive traffic jams, delayed air flights, and got people stuck in elevators. Part of France bordering Spain to the northeast was also affected.
