The Ministry of National Defence has carried out a communications test on the Spartan military aircraft used by President Nicusor Dan, to check whether equipment enabling in-flight internet connectivity can be used safely.
"Yesterday the first communications test was conducted on the Spartan aircraft. Technical data were obtained and sent to the manufacturer to verify whether any interference exists. At this stage, we are waiting for the manufacturer to confirm whether or not there are any interferences. Internet access was tested," Defence Minister Radu Miruta told journalists on Wednesday.
The equipment was installed by the Special Telecommunications Service in cooperation with the Ministry of National Defence.
Last Wednesday, the Spartan aircraft carrying President Nicusor Dan back from the meeting of heads of state and government of the 'Coalition of the Willing' managed to take off from Paris at around 4:30 pm, after two failed attempts earlier in the day due to snowfall.
