The filling rate of Romania's gas storage facilities reached 81.07%, above the European average, providing a solid base for attaining the planned 90% target by November, Energy Minister Bogdan Ivan announced in a Facebook post on Thursday.
"The good farmer makes his sleigh in the summer and his cart in winter. We have worked in recent weeks to prepare the gas storage facilities for the winter. As of August 25, the filling rate of domestic gas storage facilities was 81.07%, i.e. 27.45 TWh or approximately 2.6 billion cubic meters of gas. We exceeded the European average of 76.2%, and this provides us a solid base to achieve the targeted 90% filling rate by November. Through preventive and coordinated actions, we have reduced risks and are contributing to market stability," the official said.
According to the Energy minister, Romania is proving that it uses its resources efficiently and that it can offer its citizens energy security in the cold season.
