Romanian rhythmic gymnast Amalia Lica, world women's clubs vice-champion, on Monday won the bronze medal in the women's all-around event at the 2025 Aeon World Club Championship in Tokyo, Japan, according to Chair of the Romanian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics Irina Deleanu.
The Dandri Romania team, coached by Adriana Mitroi, finished the competition on the 5th place out of 18 participating clubs.
"We are in Japan at the Club World Championship and just now the competition in which Amalia Lica won the bronze medal in the individual final is over. We are very happy because she competed against Taisiia Onofriichuk and Rin Keys, the European champion and the world runner-up respectively, it was a select company here. This medal means a reconfirmation of the value, given that it was the Club World Cup. There were 18 participating countries, with a valuable participation. There were world medallists, and Amalia Lica held up very well on all four days of the competition, although it was a tiring competition. And she finished third in the all-around. And the Dandri Romania team, coached by Adriana Mitroi, finished on the 5th place out of 18 teams," said Deleanu.
She added that the world vice-champion Lica is starting to become an important name in world rhythmic gymnastics: "Amalia Lica is starting to become an important name in rhythmic gymnastics. In fact, in the qualification she was the best ranked . That is, more than the Russian women. She even outperformed Maria Borisova and got a higher score than her."
Lica, 16, is the world vice-champion in clubs as she won the silver medal in August in the final of the World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Rio de Janeiro.
Romania had won only one medal at the World Championships, in 1992 in Brussels, in the rope, by Irina Deleanu, the incumbent chair of the Romanian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics.
