Romania's Luca wins silver at 2025 European Weightlifting Championships

Romania's Cristian Luca of CS Dinamo Bucharest on Monday won the silver medal in men's 55 kg category lifting 110 kg in the snatch at the 2025 European Weightlifting Championships in Chisinau, Moldova, according to the Romanian Weightlifting Federation.

Luca was fourth in the clean and jerk with 132 kg and fourth in total with 242 kg.

Also in the men's 55 kg category, junior Narcis Papolti of CSM Bistrita ranked 9th in the snatch with 105 kg, 5th in the clean and jerk with 130 kg, and 7th in total with 235 kg.

After two days, team Romania has three gold medals, all won by Mihaela Cambei, in women's 49 kg category; a silver medal won by Cristian Luca in the men's 55 kg category snatch, and two bronze medals, one won by Ioana Madalina Miron in women's 45 kg category snatch, and the other by Cosmina Pana in the women's 49 kg category snatch.

Romania has lined up 15 weightlifters for the 2025 European Weightlifting Championships in Chisinau, eight in the men's and seven in the women's events.
