Romania's Mirela Cojocaru qualifies for European Boxing U19 Championships semi-finals

Romanian boxer Mirela Elisa Cojocaru qualified on Sunday for the semi-finals of the 57 kg category at the European Boxing U19 Championships in Ostrava (the Czech Republic), after defeating Ukraine's Ana Koloturska on points (3-2).

With this result, Cojocaru has secured a medal and will face off Ireland's Grace Conway Dowling in the semi-final scheduled on 8 October, according to Agerpres.

Also on Sunday, in the men's 55 kg category, Iulian Stefan Udroiu was defeated in the quarter-finals by Ukraine's Rashid Bonus (0-5), while Teofan Alexandru Butoi lost in the 90 kg quarter-finals against Lithuania's Daumantas Vilkas (0-4).

Romania has four other semi-finalists: Rebeca Micaela Muller (54 kg), Daniela Larisa Gheba (80 kg), Razvan Ionut Panainte (50 kg) and Daniel Adrian Grigorie (70 kg).

Romania is competing with 15 athletes, 8 men and 7 women, at the European Boxing U19 Championships in Ostrava, with the national team aiming to win at least two medals.
