Romanian driver Simone Tempestini finished in fourth place on Sunday in the Rally di Roma Capitale, the fifth round of the European Rally Championship (FIA ERC).

The Simone Tempestini/Sergiu Itu (Skoda Fabia RS) clocked in at 1:53:43.0. The victory went to the Italians Andrea Crugnola/Pietro Ometto (Citroen C3), in 1:53:10. 9, followed by the Italians Simone Campedelli/Tania Canton (Skoda Fabia RS), at + 22.3, and by the Spaniards Efren Llarena/Sara Fernandez (Skoda Fabia RS), at +27.9.

Born in Italy to Italian parents, Tempestini has lived in Romania since he was 14 years old and became a Romanian citizen in 2016, the year in which he also became WRC junior world champion. Domestically, the driver from Cluj has no less than 8 absolute championship titles, and if he wins this year, he will surpass the legendary Titi Aur in the all-time ranking.

Also competing in the 2024 edition of the Rally di Roma Capitale was the only quadriplegic driver competing at international level, Ciprian Lupu from Brasov, who already entered the Guiness book of records a year ago for the title won domestically in the debutant category. Lupu, who had Andrei Aitculesei on the right in a Renault Clio Rally5 officially adapted to his needs, ranked last, 32nd, clocking in at 2:27:27.5
