Romania's FOB/CIF trade balance deficit stood at EUR 11.606 billion between January 1 and April 30, 2025, by EUR 2.284 billion (+24.5%) higher than in the similar period of 2024, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INS), published on Tuesday.
In the first four months of the year, FOB exports totaled EUR 31.457 billion, up 0.5% from the similar period in 2024, while CIF imports amounted to EUR 43.063 billion, up 6%.
Important shares in the structure of exports and imports are held by the product groups: machinery and transport equipment (46.5% for exports and 35.2% for imports) and other manufactured goods (27.7% for exports and 27.9% for imports).
The value of intra-EU27 trade in goods in the period under review was EUR 22.346 billion in exports and EUR 30.922 billion in imports, representing 71% of total exports and 71.8% of total imports.
The value of extra-EU27 trade in goods in the same period was EUR 9.111 billion in exports and EUR 12.140 billion in imports, accounting for 29% of total exports and 28.2% of total imports.
In April 2025, FOB exports totaled EUR 7.867 billion and CIF imports amounted to EUR 11.008 billion, resulting in a deficit of EUR 3.141 billion. Compared with April 2024, exports in April 2025 fell by 5.2% and imports rose by 0.4%.
