Romania's unemployment rate reached 5.9% in September, the same level as recorded in August 2025, according to provisional data the National Institute of Statistics (INS) published on Thursday.
According to the statistics, within this margin, the unemployment rate among men was 0.5 percentage points higher than among women, standing at 6.1% for men and 5.6% for women.
At the same time, the number of unemployed persons aged 15-74, estimated for September this year, was 482,500, up from the previous month (481,000 unemployed) and also compared with the same period in 2024, when 465,800 unemployed persons were recorded.
The INS pointed out that, based on these data, attention remains focused on the high unemployment rate of 23.5% among young people (aged 15-24), recorded between April and June 2025.
