Romania's women's épée team, silver medalist at Fencing Cadet European Championships, in Novi Sad

Romania's women's épée team won the silver medals on Monday, the last day of 2022 Fencing Cadet and Junior European Championships in Novi Sad (Serbia), after being defeated in the final by Hungary, by 45-37, according to the site of the Romanian Fencing Federation.

The team made up of Amalia Stan, Maria Alexe, Alexandra Mitrus and Rosemarie Benciu overtook Greece in the round of 16, 45-38, clearly defeated the German team in the quarterfinals, 45-31, to win in the semifinals against Italy, by 45-36.

Romania finished the Cadet and Junior European Championships with six medals, one gold, two silver and three bronze. Four medals were won in the épée (two silver, two bronze) and two in the foil (gold and bronze)

Romania won three medals at the Junior European Championships which took place until Wednesday in Novi Sad. On the first day of the competition, Radu Nitu won the silver medal in the épée event, and Karina Vasile won the bronze in the foil event. On Tuesday, the women's foil team, composed of Emilia Corbu, Karina Vasile, Andreea Dinca and Teodora Sofran, won the gold.

In the European Cadet Championships, Maria Alexe won the bronze medal on Saturday, the men's épée team (Casian Cidu, Dacian Enache, Rares Gheorghe and Luca Radu) won the bronze medal on Sunday, and on Monday the women's épée team (Amalia Stan, Maria Alexe, Alexandra Mitrus and Rosemarie Benciu) obtained the silver.
