Romgaz currently has a quantity 633.83 million cubic metres of natural gas in store, double the mandatory amount set by an order of the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE), according to Romgaz officials.
"Romgaz has fulfilled its gas storage obligation according to the ANRE order, even exceeding the amount it is mandated to store. Romgaz has currently in store 633.83 million cubic metres (almost double the obligation set by ANRE) against a total Rommgaz storage capacity of 1.93 billion cubic metres in the storage facilities managed by Romgaz, exceeding the mandatory minimum stock of 1.78 billion cubic metres for all market operators," according to the Romgaz officials.
In total, the storage capacity, including Engie's Depomures, is about 2.2 billion cubic metres mandated for this winter.
Under ANRE Decision of October 30, 2017, the minimum natural gas stock established at the national level incumbent on the holders of supply licences that secure natural gas supply to final household users for the storage cycle 2017-2018 is 18.65 million MWh.
At present, there are three operators of underground storage facilities in Romania: Romgaz, Depomures and Amgaz. There are also 34 natural gas distribution and supply companies for captive users, with the largest of them being Distrigaz Sud and E.ON Gaz Romania, and 76 wholesale suppliers.
