The Royal Choir will give its Christmas Concert on 10 December in the Roman Catholic Cathedral of Saint Joseph in Bucharest.

The event will take place in the presence of Princess Sofia. Admission is free, subject to available seating.

Alongside the Royal Choir, the special guest will be the Gymnasium Orchestra, the newest and youngest orchestral ensemble in Bucharest, made up of musicians aged between 10 and 16, pupils of the Gymnasium Schools of Arts No 3, No 5 and Iosif Sava in Bucharest, according to a press release sent to AGERPRES on Wednesday.

The musical direction will be provided by conductors Razvan Apetrei and Daniela Cotoroana. The orchestral arrangements are created by Constantin Grajdian.

The event partners are the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Bucharest - Office for Ecclesiastical Cultural Assets and Heritage, the Evangelical Church of Augustan Confession in Bucharest, the Royalist Youth Association, the Gymnasium School of Arts No 3, the Gymnasium School of Arts No 5 and the Iosif Sava Gymnasium School of Arts.

Founded in 2012, the Royal Choir consists of young musicians aged between 18 and 35, students and graduates of the National University of Music Bucharest. It has succeeded in standing out in Romanian musical life, having trained more than 500 young musicians during its more than 13 years of existence, who have taken part in more than 100 public appearances in Romania and abroad on the most representative stages of Romanian music and culture, and has been present at events and ceremonies of the Romanian Royal Family held at Elisabeta Palace, Peles Castle, the Royal Palace (MNAR), the Royal Domain in Savarsin, Cotroceni Palace and Queen Marie's Castle in Balchik.

In 2019 the Royal Choir performed during the Holy Mass presided over by His Holiness Pope Francis in the Roman Catholic Cathedral of Saint Joseph in Bucharest. For its merits the Royal Choir has been awarded the Royal Medal for Loyalty (2018) and the Decoration of the Cross of the Royal House of Romania (2023) by Her Majesty Margareta, Custodian of the Romanian Crown.
