Royal Family of Romania wishes all Romanians on the National Day "Many happy returns of the day in a respected, wealthy Romania!" and brings homage to the Romanian nation which made a blood sacrifice for the country's unification.

"On the occasion of 1 December, the Royal Family wishes all the Romanians, in the country, in the Republic of Moldova, in the country's neighbourhood and those who are afar, in other countries all over the world, many happy returns of the day, in a Romania respected and wealthy! On a day of happy and optimistic celebration, we bring an homage to the Romanian nation which has made a blood sacrifice for the country's unification," says the Royal Family in a press release issued on Friday on the romaniaregala.ro web portal.

In the message, they say that their thoughts are with Unifying King Ferdinand and Queen Maria, as well as with King Carol I and Queen Elisabeta, "those who through their outstanding work made it possible the day of 1 December to be the day of the Great Union, which for decades now has become the National Day of Romania."

"On 1 December 1918 was accomplished the unification ideal of all Romanians, and yet this day has also represented the completion of a triumphant half of century of constitutional foundation and strengthening of the Romanian modern state: 10 May 1866 - the coming of Carol I as Ruler of the Romanian United Principalities; 30 June 1866 - promulgation of Romania's Constitution; 10 May 1877 - Romania's Independence; 10 May 1881 - Crowning of first king of the Kingdom of Romania," the Royal Family says on the above-mentioned web portal.
