The Margareta of Romania Royal Foundation announced on Tuesday the organization of the national conference "Best Practices for a Beautiful Old Age" at the Bucharest National Theatre.

According to a foundation press release sent to AGERPRES, the event - now in its ninth edition and held under the theme "Integration" - will bring together around 140 professionals working in elderly support services: social workers, NGO representatives, public institutions, companies providing senior-oriented products and services, doctors and medical staff, as well as members of the public interested in the challenges faced by older people and in solutions for improving their quality of life.

Organized ahead of the International Day of Older Persons (October 1), the conference will be attended by Her Majesty Margareta, Custodian of the Romanian Crown, and by Her Royal Highness Princess Sofia, a member of the foundation's board of directors.

The event will also feature the presentation of a study assessing the impact of the intergenerational method applied nationwide in the Generations Centres over the past 10 years.

"The agenda includes interactive panels, current trends and challenges, as well as forecasts on active ageing, alongside effective and innovative solutions at national level. It will cover support services for seniors, new legislation on long-term care and active ageing, perspectives on the role of older people in society, inspirational models, and also a space for exchange and networking among professionals," the press release specifies.

The conference will also see the launch of the Ranking of Seniors' Needs and Solutions compiled through the Senior Citizens' Hotline - 0800 460 001 - the only free and confidential national phone line which, for the past decade, has provided seniors with reliable information and alleviated loneliness.

Participants will also be able to visit an exhibition created by young artists from the Young Talents program, inspired by seniors' life stories. Photographic snapshots from the Generations Centres across the country, where seniors volunteer to support children from disadvantaged families, will also be on display.

The second part of the day will feature a classical music concert dedicated to seniors, performed by scholarship holders of the Royal Foundation's Young Talents program, at the Media Hall of the Bucharest National Theatre I.L. Caragiale.

Registration for the event is open on its official website.

Founded 35 years ago by Her Majesty Margareta, Custodian of the Romanian Crown, together with her father, King Michael, the Margareta of Romania Royal Foundation is a non-governmental organization supporting children, young people and the elderly through sustainable interventions based on the exchange of experience and values between generations. Its latest programs include: the Fund for Seniors, the Senior Citizens' Hotline, Generations Community Centres, and Connecting Generations in the Digital World.
