Secretary of state for global bilateral affairs Monica Gheorghita participated on Wednesday in the International Conference for the reconstruction and development of the Republic of Iraq, organised in Kuwait, a release of the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) sent to AGERPRES informs.The Romanian dignitary hailed the initiative of the State of Kuwait to mobilise the resources of the international community in support of the Republic of Iraq, in the context of the defeat of the terrorist group ISIL/Daesh and given the importance of this state's stability for the entire region.
She congratulated the Iraqi authorities and the international community, through the Global anti-ISIL/Daesh Coalition for the success achieved and reiterated Romania's strong support for the Republic of Iraq's territorial unity and sovereignty, the quoted source shows.
The Secretary of State also underscored the availability for Romania's participation in the post-conflict reconstruction process of the Republic of Iraq both institutionally and economic, conveying the Romanian authorities' interest in sharing the expertise Romania has accumulated in the political-economic transition processes.
The International Conference for the reconstruction and development of the Republic of Iraq took place Monday through Wednesday in the State of Kuwait and was organised under the patronage of the the Emir of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the Republic of Iraq's Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, in cooperation with the World Bank.
The purpose of the conference was to debate the reconstruction and development agenda of the Republic of Iraq - issues regarding the international assistance for development and the projects implemented by the non-governmental organisations.
