Senate Chair Ciuca: We should not be ashamed to choose a vocational high school
Attending the opening of the new school year at the Timotei Cipariu Technical College High School of Blaj, Senate Chairman Nicolae Ciuca said that there should be no shame in opting for such a high school and a vocational school, saying that the development of this education segment is needed in order to secure the workforce needed in the economy, told Agerpres.
"We have all learned, that 'knowledge of a trade is worth a handful of gold.' We need to develop this segment as well to secure the workforce for an economy in full swing of development, " said Ciuca.
He voiced appreciation for dual vocational education in Blaj and Alba County, saying that he visited similar schools in Alba Iulia in the past and that he even participated in an open day for dual vocational education.
He said that he chose to come to Blaj because it is "an example of good practice" in terms of the development of dual vocational education, adding that he greatly appreciates the partnership between the local administration, the county administration and investors in Alba County.
"It is not by chance that in Alba we are discussing a very well developed automotive industry, and here, in Blaj, and in Sebes (...) It is an example of good practice and we should not be ashamed to opt for a technical high school, like this one, and afterwards to be able to continue our studies and, why not, to aspire to a higher level of performance and professional training," said Ciuca.
He told the high schoolers that given that "there is a whole series of problems that we encounter in schools, near schools" they should behave "as empathetically as possible, with maximum friendship, understanding and tolerance towards schoolmates," and stay away from everything that can deviate them from the normal path, especially at this age.
As many as 302 students are taking vocational classes at the Timotei Cipariu Technical High School College at Blaj, with most of the recent graduates being employed by two companies, BOSCH and IAMU, involved in the project.
