Senate President Nicolae Ciuca met Supreme Rada of Ukraine Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk, in Washington.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the NATO Parliamentary Summit, which is taking place in the US capital.
"Bilateral relations between Romania and Ukraine are getting stronger and parliamentary diplomacy has an essential role here. This was the theme of the discussion I had in Washington - on the sidelines of the NATO Parliamentary Summit - with Ruslan Stefanchuk, Speaker of the Supreme Rada of Ukraine," Ciuca said in a post on his Facebook page on Wednesday.
He mentioned that during the meeting with the Ukrainian official, they discussed "the concrete solutions that Kyiv needs and the support that Romania can give as a neighbouring state and NATO member country."
"At the meeting in the American capital, crucial decisions are being made these days in the area of defence, on which the future of us all depends. That is why, in the meeting with my Ukrainian counterpart, I talked about the concrete solutions that Kyiv needs and the support that Romania can give, as a neighbouring state and NATO member country," the Romanian Senate president also wrote.
