Chairman of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats (ALDE) and Senate President Calin Popescu Tariceanu announced that the MPs of his formation were caught off-guard by a series of amendments brought to the offshore draft law and requested the Ministry of Finance to present evaluations that show the impact the proposed amendments have.
He added that the ALDE deputies had a "feeling of uncertainty concerning the solidity of the proposals", because the amendments brought to the draft law were not accompanied by "any sort sort of explanatory note" concerning the budgetary implications.
The Senate President said that the ALDE deputies want to vote while informed and to be able to explain to the Romanians the implications of this vote.
Deputies' Chamber Committees for Industries, Budget and Public Administration approved on Tuesday the amendments to the offshore law with 31 votes "in favour", 10 "against" and 4 abstentions.
Most of the adopted amendments belong to the Social Democratic Party (PSD, major at rule, ed.n.) group.
The report with the adopted amendments is due to enter the debates of the Deputies' Chamber plenum, a decision-making forum in this case.
