Senator Titus Corlatean, chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee, calls on the Swedish Government to "react very quickly" in order to follow up on the "absolutely rightful requests to stop the absolutely illegal and abusive detention" of two Romanian minors whose parents live in Sweden.
"It is absolutely unacceptable what is happening, when a 12 year old girl ends up using poison, ends up wanting to put a noose around her neck, ends up using a piece of tinplate, to cut her wrists or ends up taking a knife, it is an unacceptable matter that we did not think could happen in a democratic state like Sweden. We are waiting for a very quick response from the Swedish state," Titus Corlatean on Monday told a joint press conference with MP Ben - Oni Ardelean, on the case of a Romanian family living in Sweden with their two daughters, Sara and Diana, who "were taken away abusively" by the social worker in the Swedish community where this family lives.
Corlatean also asks the Swedish Government to ensure strict compliance with Sweden's international commitments and very good political relations with the Romanian state and to immediately repatriate the two girls, "who are illegally being detained".
Senator Corlatean recalls how the Samson family's case began, things that had happened starting with December 2022, and adds that the action of separating the girls is taking place "at an accelerated pace", and the parents are forbidden to see them again, deeds that "violate" international conventions on the matter.
"At the moment it is the fourth foster family for each child, with some psychological abuse of the children, with things that the girls are confessing and which have led them, especially Sara, to resort to some reckless gestures. Two weeks ago, Sara's fifth suicide attempt was recorded. So far, she used poison, pills, tried to hang herself, used a piece of tinplate to cut her wrists and last time she used a knife, was stopped by her foster family, reported to the police, taken to the psychiatric ward again. Sara is also undergoing a wrong treatment with psychotropic pills, she has reached 96 kilos at the age of 12 and she is a girl who constantly says: I want my parents back," said the senator.
