Senate Chairman Calin Popescu-Tariceanu said on Wednesday, at the beginning of a meeting with representatives of the Romanian Energy Center, that following talks with Prime Minister Viorica Dancila about the 2pct tax on the turnover of energy companies it was concluded that the tax is excessive and might be repealed.

"I discussed in advance with Prime Minister Viorica Dancila Ordinance 114 and what I tell you I told her as well - I do not mind discussing, having a very good and honest dialogue - and I shared my concerns, because I have taken over some of your concerns through those with whom I have had a dialogue so far, and I explained that this 2pct taxe on energy companies seriously affects the possibilities of further development and the attainment of the performance indicators that are expected of these companies. The prime minister herself agreed that this tax is excessive and we have to analyse it and most likely repeal the 2pct tax," he said.
