The President of the Senate, Mircea Abrudean, appreciated the Government's decision to maintain the cap on the price of natural gas for household consumers, emphasizing that this supports economic stability.

"The decision of the Ilie Bolojan Government to maintain the gas price cap for household consumers is a timely one, intended to protect citizens and contribute to economic stability. Without this measure, many families would have experienced significant increases in energy costs. Moreover, maintaining the cap offers predictability in an international context marked by volatility in energy markets and geopolitical tensions that can influence prices," Abrudean wrote on Facebook on Thursday.

According to Abrudean, Romania has the resources and potential necessary to strengthen its energy independence.

"At the same time, this period must be used to consolidate domestic production and accelerate investments in energy infrastructure. Romania has the resources and potential necessary to strengthen its energy independence," Abrudean added.

Energy Minister Bogdan Ivan announced on Thursday, at the end of the Government meeting, that the price of natural gas for the final consumer will be stable for one year, until April 2027, regardless of international fluctuations.
