1739 - Signing of the Treaty of Belgrade, which marked the end of the two-year Austrian-Russian-Turkish War (1736-1739). The Hapsburg Empire returned Oltenia, which rejoined Wallachia, agerpres reports.

1896 - Death of agronomist, politician Stefan Constantinovici Gonata, founding and honorary member of the Romanian Academic Society (b. February 1, 1838)
1909 - Death of historian, archeologist, epigraphist and folklorist Grigore Tocilescu, member of the Romanian Academy (b. October 26, 1850)
1911 - Director Grigore Brezeanu shot the first Romanian feature film 'Amor fatal' (Fatal love), "sentimental drama set for cinema", the cast of which includes Lucia Sturdza-Bulandra, Tony Bulandra and A. Barbelian
1914 - Signing of the secret Russian-Romanian agreement by virtue of which Russia recognized Romania's rights over territories inhabited by Romanians under Austrian-Hungarian rule, in exchange for Romania's friendly neutrality
1919 - The National Opera House in Cluj, the oldest lyrical-dramatic institution in Romania is inaugurated. The first performance, G. Verdi's 'Aida', took place on May 25, 1920. The building of the Cluj Opera House is part of the national cultural patrimony and is dubbed as a historic and arts monument
1921 - The Congress in Cernauti, which sets the basis for the creation of the Union of Germans in Romania
