Serban: Constanta Port is positioned as the main commercial hub of the Black Sea

The Port of Constanta is positioning itself as the main commercial hub of the Black Sea, with investments of almost EUR 2 billion, opening a vital road to Asia through the Middle East, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Ciprian Serban, announced on Friday.

"Today, I was in the Port of Constanta, at the invitation of the General Manager of the National Company Maritime Ports Administration SA Constanta, Mihai Teodorescu, who presented to me a strategy for the development of this essential facility for the Romanian economy. The Port of Constanta remains a strategic hub for Romania and Europe, and the ongoing or preparatory projects will strengthen its role. Investments support the activity of the National Company Maritime Ports Administration SA (CN APM SA) and bring direct benefits to the national economy," Serban wrote in a social media post, agerpres reports.

According to him, several major projects have already been completed, including: an extension to four lanes of the Gate 10 bis - Gate 9 road (EUR 12.69 million), infrastructure modernisation and environmental protection (EUR 15.03 million), road and parking in the river-sea quay area (EUR 3.26 million).

Currently, other projects are being implemented or prepared, such as: upgrading the electrical infrastructure, worth EUR 23.05 million; expanding the piers of berths 10 and 12 - Midia Area (EUR 16.93 million), the E-COLD project for supplying ships with energy from the quay (EUR 18.8 million), expanding to four lanes Gate 7 - Pod Canal - EUR 50 million .

Also, there are other projects in his post, namely the road master plan, of EUR 122.6 million, Electrical II - EUR 82.41 million - MEIAC (Water and Canal) - EUR 28 million, dredging investment - EUR142.6 million, railway capacity development - phase II (EUR 23.8 million), Midia quays (EUR 214.7 million), photovoltaic park - EUR 11.3 million, secure parking near the A4 motorway - EUR 43.37 million Midia technical ships quay - EUR 22.18 million and piers III S and IV S (EUR 1.1 billion).

The total value of these investments amounts to EUR 1.93 billion.

Serban added that he also visited the passenger terminal, which he said is "a new, modern and welcoming space, ready to offer a pleasant experience to tourists visiting Romania."

Another priority mentioned by the minister is the North Dike - Gate 1 section - White Lighthouse, 3,550 metres long. Works include structural repairs, consolidation of slopes, restoration of the concrete wall and installation of stabilopods of up to 25 tonnes.

"The Port of Constanta is not just a logistics facility - it is a strategic pillar of regional transport. With almost two billion euros invested through CN APM SA, THE PORT OF CONSTANTA is positioned as the main commercial hub of the Black Sea, opening a vital route to Asia through the Middle East. The future of Romanian maritime transport is being built here and now," according to Serban.
