Calea Victoriei and Banu Manta Blvd. in Sector 1 will become pedestrianized, Saturday and Sunday, as part of the "Open Streets" program.
ARCUB announces a "varied" program of shows, concerts, workshops and guided tours.
"The first weekend 'Open Streets - Bucharest, Urban Promenade' begins at 11:00 with a unique percussion musical moment, performed by Cantus Mundi, taking place along the entire pedestrian route on Calea Victoriei. On Saturday evening, the atmosphere will be enlivened by the concert of the band Vama, scheduled in the area of ??the National History Museum, between 19:00-20:00. On Sunday evening, in the same area, dance becomes the common language at the 'Dance Night' event - the spring edition, which transforms the city into a large collective stage," the quoted source reports.
Story characters from the Children's Comic Opera kick off Saturday with "a colorful parade", and the show atmosphere continues with a second parade held by the artists of the Bucharest Metropolitan Circus. Also on Saturday, Magitot brings the exhibition "Abracadabra - the secrets of magic" to the middle of the city, and Vlad Benescu demonstrates balance and skill with "spectacular" juggling on a unicycle, informs ARCUB.
The Bucharest Municipality Museum - Filipescu-Cesianu House will host a series of temporary and permanent exhibitions, including: "With a Pencil on Calea Victoriei" (in collaboration with UNArte) and "Museum of Ages - from Childhood to Old Age". In the area of ??the Art Collections Museum, the Association of Fine Artists of Bucharest offers painting demonstrations, and caricaturist Vasile Catrina portrays passers-by.
"For two days, Revolution Square becomes a space dedicated to sports and outdoor recreational activities, carried out in partnership with the Bucharest Municipal Sports Club. The public of all ages will have access to mini-basketball courts, ping-pong and chess tables," according to the press release.
Little explorers will be able to discover stories about the city, within the interactive workshops organized by the National Museum of Romanian Literature and the Bucharest Metropolitan Library. The program also includes reading sessions and puppet theater.
On Sunday, guided heritage rediscovery tours will be organized on Calea Victoriei, coordinated by Ana Rubeli (founder of "Aici a stat"). Participants are invited to an "architectural treasure hunt, exploring the hidden stories of the buildings on one of the most emblematic streets" of Bucharest.
On the occasion of the "Dâmboviţa Apa Dulce" event, organized by Nod Markerspace, residents and tourists are invited to see Bucharest from a different perspective, during kayaking and SUP rides. The Dâmboviţa riverbank becomes a stage for dance workshops, creative recycling demonstrations, live music and urban planting activities. The evening ends with a fire show on the water offered by "Otet Light and Fire".
On Banu Manta Blvd., between 10:00 and 21:00, there will be: mini basketball courts for children and adults, subsoccer tables, ping-pong tables, Kanjam games, giant checkers, spikeball, giant garden tower, crossnet football and volleyball, giant ring toss, giant dominoes.
The program is complemented by actions promoting various professions, organized between 10:00 and 21:00, together with the Bucharest Gendarmerie and the ISU "Dealu Spirii". Between 10:00 and 14:00, visitors can participate in a special tour of the District 1 City Hall.
On the artistic stage, children and families can enjoy theater and music performances throughout the day.
The decorative art exhibition of the Bucharest School of Art, coordinated by expert Elena Borundel, is open between 12:00 and 21:00, and the artistic program ends with musical accompaniment. From 19:00, the public can enjoy a light music concert, followed by a recital by Ozana Barabancea.
On weekends when the "Open Streets" project is underway, Calea Victoriei becomes pedestrian, between 10:00 and 22:00, on the road segment between Dacia Boulevard to the intersection with Splaiul Independentei, without affecting the intersections. Crossing will be allowed on Calea Victoriei, on Stirbei Voda Street, C.A. Rosetti Street, Dem I. Dobrescu Street, Ion Campineanu Street, Regina Elisabeta Boulevard. Traffic of the Bucharest Transport Company will be diverted, without affecting passengers.
Road traffic on Calea Victoriei resumes during the night until the morning (Saturday to Sunday), starting from 11:00 p.m. until 9:00 a.m. For the safety of event participants, bicycle lanes are also closed on the arteries where cars no longer circulate.
For the Dâmbovita Apa Dulce event, road traffic is restricted on Saturday, between 5:00 PM and 10:00 PM, on Splaiul Independentei 4-33, Natiunile Unite - Izvor segment, in the direction of Unirii - Izvor, from the Natiunile Unite intersection to the intersection with Mihai Voda street.
On Banu Manta Boulevard, road traffic is restricted starting from Friday, April 11, 10:00 PM, until Monday, April 14, 6:00 AM, in the area between Ion Mihalache Boulevard and General Vladoianu Barbu Street.
