Sibiu city native Lacramioara Teodorescu will compete on Sunday, October 6, in the Ironman Calella - Barcelona triathlon in a bid to help fellow townsman Eduardo, a 15-year-old handball player with a heart disease, who needs money for surgery at a private clinic, the Sibiu County Council announced on Facebook, informs Agerpres.
"From the heart, for a heart! This could be the motto under which Sibiu's Lacramioara Teodorescu will compete on October 6 in the Ironman Calella - Barcelona 2024. It's a tough competition, where Kiki - as her friends from the Sibiu Community Club call her - will swim 3.8 km, pedal 180 km and run 42.2 km. Many of us are surprised by the thought of a woman taking on such a tough competition. But we can all support her with a kind thought, but also by taking action, because Lacramioara wants to help the Polisano Foundation's fundraiser for the 'Healthy Hearts for Children' project. One of the beneficiaries of the donations is Eduardo, a young handball player from Sibiu aged just 15, who is sidelined from the sport he loves by illness," the Facebook message reads.
Lacramioara Teodorescu said that she is determined "to be iron-tough for Eduardo".
"On October 6, 2024, I will again take the start in an endurance trial, Ironman Calella - Barcelona, wearing the dedicated awareness T-shirt, for the healthy hearts of Romania's children. This year I will swim, bike and run for Eduardo, a young athlete who is halted in his tracks by a disease that we can cure together! Eduardo needs surgery and a healthy heart! Team up with me and Eduardo for his and for the future's sake. Eduardo, take heart!," Lacramioara Teodorescu wrote on the website of the Polisano Foundation.
