Six Romanian tennis players, including Simona Halep, will compete in the women's doubles event of the Australian Open tournament, which will start on Monday in Melbourne, according to the draw on Sunday, Agerpres reports.
Simona Halep will play alongside Gabriela Ruse, and the two will meet the pair Jaqueline Cristian (Romania) and German Andrea Petkovic.
Irina Begu and the Serbian Nina Stojanovic will be seeds no. 15, and in the first round they will face the couple Rebecca Peterson (Sweden)/Anastasia Potapova (Russia).
Raluca Olaru will play alongside German Anna-Lena Friedsam, and they will meet in the first round the French couple Alize Cornet/Diane Parry.
Irina Bara will be joined by her regular doubles partner, Ekaterine Gorgodze (Georgia), and their opponents in the first round will be Czechs Marie Bouzkova/Lucie Hradecka.
