The solar power generated by photovoltaic (PV) installations accounted for 3.18 billion kWh in the first ten months of this year, up 55.1% compared to the same period last year, according to data published on Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

The figures regarding the solar energy produced in photovoltaic installations also includes prosumers.

Production from thermal power plants was 14.06 billion kWh, down 1.2%, production from hydroelectric power plants was 12.53 billion kWh, down 21.3%, and that from nuclear power plants was 8.9 billion kWh, down 4.3%.

Production from wind power plants, between January 1 and October 31, 2024, was 5.07 billion kWh, loosing 18.2% compared to the same period last year.

The final electricity consumption in the first nine months of the year stood at 41.55 billion kWh, 1.3% higher than the same period in 2023. Final electricity consumption in the economy amounted to 31.54 billion kWh, up 0.9%, population consumption (9.69 billion kWh) increased by 3%, and public lighting recorded a decrease of 2.4% (327.2 million kWh).

Electricity exports were 9.10 million kWh, down 3.6%, and imports were 10.82 billion kWh, up 59.7%.

The own technological consumption in networks and stations was 3.92 billion kWh, down 3.3%.

INS statistics also show that primary energy resources, between January 1 and October 31, 2024, decreased by 1.5%, and electricity resources increased by 0.1%, compared to the first ten months of 2023.

The main primary energy resources totaled 27 million tonnes of oil equivalent (toe), down 414,900 toe.

Domestic production amounted to 14.09 million toe, down 4.9%, and imports were 12.92 million toe, up +2.5%. AGERPRES
