As many as 3,800 cigarettes, worth 5,700 RON, was discovered by border police officers in the luggage of a 32-year-old Turkish national, who was traveling as a passenger in a bus driven by a Bulgarian citizen on DN 5D, near Giurgiu.

"The border police officers from the Giurgiu Border Police Territorial Inspectorate stopped a bus registered in Turkey for verification in the DN 5D area, traveling on the Turkey-Romania route, driven by a Bulgarian citizen. On this occasion, the border police discovered inside the bus several packages of cigarettes belonging to a passenger, a 32-year-old Turkish citizen. The inventory revealed a quantity of 3,800 cigarettes (190 packs), without fiscal stamp, for which the person in question could not present documents of origin," reads a press release of the Giurgiu Border Police Territorial Inspectorate.

The cigarettes, estimated at a value of about 5,700 RON, were seized and placed in the institution's evidence room, and the Turkish citizen was fined with a warning for keeping outside the tax warehouse or selling on Romanian territory excisable products subject to marking, without being marked or improperly marked or with false markings.
