The interim president of the PSD, Sorin Grindeanu, declared on Wednesday, in Craiova, that he "had warned the Government a little" on the subject of increasing the minimum wage, the social-democratic leader claiming that Romania risks entering an infringement zone if it does not adopt the measure.
"I warned the government a bit, including today. I saw statements that they are refusing to increase the minimum wage. You should know that it is a European commitment that Romania has made. I also spoke with Roxana Mînzatu, the European Commissioner, the vice-president of the commission, I asked her to present a material through which we can make the best decisions in Romania, because otherwise we risk entering an infringement zone if we do not increase the minimum wage, which I believe we need to do," said Grindeanu, when asked if the Social Democrats had thought about measures to support vulnerable categories in the context of rising energy prices.
