The sound installation of the Memory Museum "Memory Hub. Selected Testimonies from adolescence under communism, in the 70's-80's" is being hosted, from Wednesday until October 31, by the National Museum of Romanian History (MNIR).

According to a press release sent by the organizers to AGERPRES on Wednesday, visitors can pick up one of the three receivers to listen to 10 sound reconstructions, part of the Memory Museum 's newest project, "Adolescent in Communism: the 70s-80s".

The interactive, child-friendly, telephone switchboard-like installation connects us to the past, containing sound reconstructions from the newspapers and news of the time, as well as the memories of those who entrusted them to us, the source said.

"In the second chapter of the project Adolescent in Communism we wanted to reconstruct and find out the everyday life of those who lived their teenage years between those years: those who knew love, listened to Europa Libera (Radio Free Europe, Radio Liberty) on the sly, told jokes with Ceausescu and witnessed the devastating earthquake of '77. The memory hub is a gateway to other times, because it contains original archival content that otherwise would not reach so many people. We believe that personal histories deserve to be heard," said Smaranda Pasnicu, co-founder of the Memory Museum and the cultural NGO Punctart.

The Memory Museum is a project of the cultural NGO Punctart, a digital capsule of collective history that is built, day by day, with everyone's memories. At the same time, the Memory Museum project has been conceived as an educational and cultural approach that promotes national heritage by analysing some of the most significant historical moments in Romania's evolution and using new technologies as a common language with the young audience.
