Compared with September of the previous year, the average net wage increased 4.1%.

According to INS, the real wage index was 94.7% in September 2025 compared with September 2024 and 100.6% compared with August 2025. Relative to October 1990, the real wage index stood at 238.0%, up 1.6 percentage points from the level recorded in August 2025.

In September 2025, in most sectors of the economy, the level of the average net wage increased compared with August 2025, due to the granting of occasional bonuses (quarterly, annual, performance-related or for 'Oil Workers' Day'), benefits in kind and financial aid, as well as amounts from net profit and other funds (including meal vouchers).

Wage increases were also influenced by higher production results or greater receipts, depending on contracts or projects.

The most significant increases in the average net wage were recorded in auxiliary activities for financial intermediation, insurance and pension funds, up 16.4%, and in crude oil and natural gas extraction, up 14%.

Conversely, the most notable decreases in the average net wage were registered in air transport, down 14.9%, and in financial intermediation (excluding insurance and pension fund activities), in the manufacture of other means of transport, in the production and supply of electricity and heat, gas, hot water and air conditioning, in water transport, in insurance, reinsurance and pension fund activities (excluding those in the public social insurance system), and in printing and the reproduction of recorded media, with decreases ranging between 2% and 6.5%.

In the public sector, increases in the average net wage compared with the previous month were recorded in education (up 2.1%, following the resumption of hourly payments for teaching staff) and in public administration (up 0.4%). The average net wage fell slightly compared with the previous month in health and social care (down 0.1%).
