President Nicusor Dan has convened a meeting of Romania's Supreme Council for National Defence (CSAT) for today at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace.
According to the Presidential Administration, the CSAT meeting will is scheduled to start at 09:30hrs.
Featuring on the agenda are the situation in the Middle East, implications for Romania; assessing the impact of events in the Middle East on the Romanian oil market; the analysis of the temporary deployment on the territory of Romania of some military capabilities.
On March 5, Dan said that he will not convene the CSAT to consider the situation in the Middle East as long as the events do not present "an immediate danger" to Romania. "We have not convened the CSAT and we will not convene it, as long as things do not pose an immediate direct danger to Romania," said Dan.
CSAT previously convened on November 24, 2025 to consider Romania's National Defence Strategy.
