Swimmer David Popovici declared, on Monday, on the occasion of the Dinamo Sports Gala, that 2025 was the most important year in his career so far and that he had many things to learn from the difficult moments he managed to overcome.
"I think it was the most important year for me so far. It was a difficult, beautiful year and from which I learned an extraordinary number of things. It is always very nice and pleasant to win, but you learn a lot more from the moments when it is difficult for you. And somehow this year I managed to go through some moments when it was very difficult for me and still win. I am proud of myself and my team, of all the people on the team. If I had to characterize it in two words, I could say that it was an intense and beautiful year", declared Popovici.
"The most emotional moment was probably when I stood on the podium at the World Championships, when I really realized that I should have had more confidence in myself and that I could still do it, even if I felt bad a day, two or three before. That was a very emotional moment. It's exactly the feeling before a race, at the European or World Championships, when your name is called, when you're overcome with fear, but at the same time you feel more alive than ever. That's exactly the adrenaline I like to get back to," added David Popovici.
Swimmer David Popovici, double world champion, and weightlifter Mihaela Cambei, with one gold and two silver medals at the World Championships, were designated, on Monday, at the Dinamo Sports Gala, the best sportspeople of the Dinamo Sports Club in 2025.
