Romania's national airline TAROM has suspended its July 31 and August 1 flights to and from Beirut amid worsening tensions in the Middle East and following an alert issued by the Romanian Foreign Ministry (MAE) to avoid any travel to the region.
"Amid worsening tensions in the Middle East and following the alert issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to avoid any travel to the region, which informs about the security risks for travel to the Republic of Lebanon and recommends avoiding any travel, TAROM informs that it is suspending its flights to/from Beirut on July 31 and August 1, 2024," reads a TAROM press statement.
TAROM recommends all passengers affected by these cancellations to contact the company to reschedule the trip at a later date, at no additional cost. Passengers also have the option to request a refund of the airfare.
"The company is following the latest developments and informing the authorities, for the safety of its passengers, and will inform about the status of the flights scheduled for the coming days. We recommend passengers to follow the company's official communications and to contact the TAROM team for assistance," TAROM representatives also said.
For rescheduling or refund, if the tickets were purchased on the TAROM website or through a TAROM agency, passengers must contact the TAROM support centre on: (004) 021 9978, (004) 0800500 131 (TelVerde), (004) 0371 529 000 or any of the email addresses: contact@tarom.ro, rezervari@tarom.ro.
Changes can be made no later than one year of the date of issuance of the travel ticket, TAROM specifies.
